New Slate Roof in Barnstaple

slate roof barnstaple roofer

Here is our most recent job for Mr Ward on his farm In Fremington near Barnstaple.

The barn was in bit of a sorry state and once it was stripped of the existing slates several rafters needed replacing which we did before felt and battening.

The facias and bargeboards were also renewed and had 3 coats of light oak wood stain for protection. All guttering was replaced with black half round and down pipes fitted.

The roof is slated now with Brazilian grey greens using hook fix and all perimeters nailed with copper nails.

The ridge were fixed with dry ridge system which means they are screwed on to get maximum protection from storm conditions.

Mr Ward was very pleased with the finished roof as were we.

New tiled roof - Bratton Fleming

Our client in Bratton Fleming wanted a total reroof as his existing Barnstaple interlocking tiles had become quite thin due to the sand faced surface wearing down over the years.

To the rear of the property there is a loft bedroom with bathroom and toilet. It was clad in plain tiles with purpose made angle tiles for the corners.

The whole roof and vertical tiling was stripped along with the Batten’s and old 1f felt. Breathable membrane was applied along with graded 50mm x 25mm roofing Batten’s and eave trays.

The pitched roof was tiled using Redland Renowns, Breckland Brown in colour, with individual dry verge and dry ridge system.

The vertical was tiled with Redland plain tiles and new angle tiles again in Breckland Brown.
